Budget Ranges
- Basic (built-in grill, counter, storage): $8,000 – $15,000
- Mid-range (grill, sink, fridge, counter seating): $15,000 – $35,000
- High-end (full appliance suite, pizza oven, bar, covered structure): $35,000 – $80,000+
Materials
Michigan outdoor kitchens need materials that handle freeze-thaw:
- Countertops: granite and concrete hold up best. Avoid marble — it stains and cracks in cold.
- Cabinets: marine-grade polymer or stainless steel. Never use interior-grade wood.
- Flooring: stamped concrete, natural stone, or porcelain pavers. All handle Michigan winters.
Winterization
Michigan outdoor kitchens need winterization planning from day one:
- Plumbing must have shut-off valves and drain-down capability
- Appliances should be covered or stored
- Gas lines need proper disconnects
- Covered structures extend your usable season by 6–8 weeks
Permits
Gas line work and electrical require permits in most Kent County municipalities. If your outdoor kitchen includes a roof structure, that requires a building permit as well. We handle all of it.
